2018 Summer Mission Work Team
Plans for the TTUMC Mission Trip 2018 moves along slowly. Our Disaster Recovery Mission Team will be in Clendenin, West Virginia June 25th – 29th as our work week. We have at this time 12 persons on the committed to go list and 7 others as maybe. There is still room for more people to go. If you would like to be part of the team, or have questions, please contact either Dale Reese or Mark Allison who are coordinating the mission time.
Starting sometime in April, our group will be doing the Annual Stock Sale to fund the trip where we sell Common and Preferred Stock (preferred includes the dinner). Since we do not have the dinner date, we cannot start selling that stock.
In attempting to figure out the best plan for TTUMC Mission Trip 2018, it was decided our best option for Disaster Recovery Mission Team work would be for our group to return to Clendenin, West Virginia. We have lined up Clendenin UMC for June 25-29 as our work week. We will depart for the area on Saturday, June 23. Others would drive down after worship at TTUMC on June 24.
We are seeking more people to participate. If you would like to be part of the team, or have questions, please contact either Dale Reese or Mark Allison who are coordinating the mission time.
The group’s first fundraiser is the Souper Bowl which will be held on Sunday, March 4th, in our Fellowship Hall.
Some have wondered with all the natural disasters of the past year, would the mission team venture that far away for its annual Mission trip? Basically, the answer is no. We felt it was not good stewardship for our group to spend that much money and time for such a trip. Additionally, we recognize there is still much recovery work to be continued where we worked last summer. Therefore, Trinity Tower United Methodist Church Mission Team will be working with the West Virginia Annual Conference UMCOR Disaster Relief coordinator for work on homes impacted by the floods of June, 2016.
Cost per person is expected to be around $320 per person. With fundraisers and the generosity of our church membership, cost has usually been covered from the fundraisers and donations.
