2018 Summer Missions Trip

2018 Summer Mission Work Team

June 2018

Our Disaster Recovery Mission Team will be in Clendenin, West Virginia, for June 25-29 as our work week. At this point, the TTUMC Mission Trip 2018 has 22 people committed to the mission work week, and three others still trying to work out plans to go. There is still room for more people to go. If you would like to be part of the team, or have questions, please contact either Dale Reese or Mark Allison who are coordinating the mission time.

We know it can be frustrating to not hear much more news than the fact that we are going, but the nature of Mission Work in disaster relief is one never knows how much the groups working in the weeks ahead of you will get done. So over the years we have learned to be patient knowing we don’t usually know what we will be doing until about one week before we go. So we just pray God will work things out. Our group has begun the Annual Stock Sale to fund the trip where we sell Common and Preferred Stock (see Stock Sale article immediately below).

Mission Trip Stock Sale

Well, the time crunch is on as the mission team prepares for the time away. We need your support to finance the trip. Our Mission Trip Stock sale covers the bulk of their mission trip, and we appreciate your support. Our group offers two types of “stock”. One is called preferred stock and costs $20.00. The rights and privileges given the owner of this certificate is a place at the Annual Stockholder’s Dinner meeting which will be held on Sunday evening, July 15th, in the Fellowship Hall of Trinity Tower UMC. At the Stockholder dinner, stockholders will receive dinner, and see and hear about how the ‘company’ did in its mission work week of June 25-29, 2018.

A second stock option offered is called “Common” Stock. The rights and privileges given the owner of this certificate is a personal update from the seller about how the ‘company’ did in its mission work week of June 25-29, 2018.

Any support given through the stock sale goes to help fund the mission trip.

Our group has begun the Annual Stock Sale to fund the trip where we sell Common and Preferred Stock.

Mission Trip Stock Sale

The Trinity Tower UMC Disaster Relief Mission Team uses a unique fundraiser called a Mission Trip Stock sale to pay for the bulk of their mission trip. This involves people supporting their trip through the purchase of “stock” in the group. This stock is a wonderful way for people to support the mission effort.

The group offers two types of “stock”. One is called preferred stock and costs $20.00. The rights and privileges given the owner of this certificate is a place at the Annual Stockholder’s Dinner meeting which will be held on Sunday evening, July 15, in the Fellowship Hall of Trinity Tower UMC. At the Stockholder dinner, stockholders will receive dinner, and see and hear about how the ‘company’ did in its mission work week of June 25-29, 2018.

A second stock option offered is called “Common” Stock. The rights and privileges given the owner of this certificate is a personal update from the seller about how the ‘company’ did in its mission work week of June 24-30, 2018.

Any support given through the stock sale goes to help fund the mission trip.

April 2018

Plans for the TTUMC Mission Trip 2018 moves along slowly. Our Disaster Recovery Mission Team will be in Clendenin, West Virginia June 25th – 29th as our work week. We have at this time 12 persons on the committed to go list and 7 others as maybe. There is still room for more people to go. If you would like to be part of the team, or have questions, please contact either Dale Reese or Mark Allison who are coordinating the mission time.

Starting sometime in April, our group will be doing the Annual Stock Sale to fund the trip where we sell Common and Preferred Stock (preferred includes the dinner). Since we do not have the dinner date, we cannot start selling that stock.

March 2018

In attempting to figure out the best plan for TTUMC Mission Trip 2018, it was decided our best option for Disaster Recovery Mission Team work would be for our group to return to Clendenin, West Virginia. We have lined up Clendenin UMC for June 25-29 as our work week. We will depart for the area on Saturday, June 23. Others would drive down after worship at TTUMC on June 24.

We are seeking more people to participate. If you would like to be part of the team, or have questions, please contact either Dale Reese or Mark Allison who are coordinating the mission time.

The group’s first fundraiser is the Souper Bowl which will be held on Sunday, March 4th, in our Fellowship Hall.

February 2018

Some have wondered with all the natural disasters of the past year, would the mission team venture that far away for its annual Mission trip? Basically, the answer is no. We felt it was not good stewardship for our group to spend that much money and time for such a trip. Additionally, we recognize there is still much recovery work to be continued where we worked last summer. Therefore, Trinity Tower United Methodist Church Mission Team will be working with the West Virginia Annual Conference UMCOR Disaster Relief coordinator for work on homes impacted by the floods of June, 2016.

Cost per person is expected to be around $320 per person. With fundraisers and the generosity of our church membership, cost has usually been covered from the fundraisers and donations.
