2017 Summer Missions Trip

2017 Summer Mission Work Team

2017 Summer Mission Work Team – May Update

As of this writing (on April 15th ) our Summer Mission Team 2017 will be in West Virginia during the week of July 9-15, 2017, but we still do not have the location lined up by the West Virginia Conference Coordinator.

Pastor Dale Reese now has forms that each participant needs to complete and return to him. We are still seeking people to join with the team. Anyone planning to go should contact Dale and get a form, or e-mail him and he can send you one.) As usual, Mark Allison will be coordinating the work sites. Our work varies and if you desire to go, know we can use help at almost any level of skills.

Cost per person is expected to be around $320 per person. With fundraisers and the generosity of our church membership, cost has usually been covered from the fundraisers and donations. There is still room for people to sign-up for the trip. If you feel called of God to go on this mission venture, please let us know.

Mission Trip Stock Sale

The Trinity Tower UMC Disaster Relief Mission Team uses a unique fundraiser called a Mission Trip Stock sale to pay for the bulk of their mission trip. This involves people supporting their trip through the purchase of “stock” in the group. This stock is a wonderful way for people to support the mission effort.

The group offers two types of “stock”. One is called preferred stock and costs $20.00. The rights and privileges given the owner of this certificate is a place at the Annual Stockholder’s Dinner meeting which will be held on Sunday evening, July 23, in the Fellowship Hall of Trinity Tower UMC. At the Stockholder dinner, stockholders will receive dinner, and see and hear about how the ‘company’ did in its mission work week of July 9-15, 2017.

A second stock option offered is called “Common” Stock. The rights and privileges given the owner of this certificate is a personal update from the seller about how the ‘company’ did in its mission work week of July 9-15, 2017

Any support given through the stock sale goes to help fund the mission trip.

2017 Summer Mission Work Team – April Update

So the latest news (as of this writing on March 15th ) is that our Summer Mission Team 2017 will be in West Virginia during the week of July 9-15, 2017. The Conference Coordinator there told me that he hopes to have our host site (church where we will be staying) lined up by the end of the week. We will be working doing recovery for homes damaged by the severe storms and flooding of June 2016.

2017 Summer Mission Work Team – March Update

Our church has begun organizing toward the Summer Mission Team 2017. This year we are making plans to work with UMCOR Disaster Relief coordinators in West Virginia. (Yes, we have contacted Jarrod Caltrider and hope to get to see him since we will be somewhat in the area of his churches.) We have chosen West Virginia for the Recovery Work due to the damage caused from the severe storms and flooding of June 2016. Perhaps you remember that 23 persons lost their lives and thousands of homes were damaged from those floods.

We have chosen the week of July 9-15, 2017 for our Mission Team to be working. We are looking for people to join with the team. Pastor Dale Reese and Mark Allison will be heading up the team. Cost per person is expected to be around $375 per person, but know that in years past, due to fundraisers and generosity of our church membership, cost has usually been covered from the fundraisers and donations.

If you feel called of God to go on this mission venture, please let us know.
